I ask myself this question every time I trudge to another Thursday evening’s happiness or failure! www.tottenhamartclasses.co.uk
But… It’s never a complete failure, there’s always something that happens, that you’re happy with sometimes nothing more than a perfect squiggle! The combined struggle of everyone else struggling is a great incentive too, (maybe a decent pint’s another!)

Laundrette
Haven’t been in one of these since I was a student. So utilitarian and perfectly functional.
Allotment up-cycling
Chop the base of these plastic water bottles and you have mini-greenhouses. They work out at about £1.50 each. Gawd knows what cloches cost in garden centres!
Our allotment (Tottenham Hale East + LUOS ) is an example of inspirational up-cycling.
Nothing is wasted or dumped, wooden pallets, old scaffolding planks, yoghurt pots . . . the list goes on. The only money spent is on seeds and even then people dry some for next season. (Oh, and I’ve got a few bags of ‘seized’ cannabis plant compost! Supposed to be top quality so maybe I’ll get some wacky veg!)
An alleyway of Whitechapel High Street
London has so many of these mysterious, almost Dickensian turnings, especially in the City.
There is no ‘How to’ about painting (or drawing for that matter)
Learn the technical stuff, mixing colour, colour wheels, measuring etc (Like I haven’t yet!) and just enjoy the process. I enjoyed doing these although looking at this stuff again is a bit of a jolt.
Maybe re-looking enables us to be creative critics, not destructive ones!
All that matters is the learning process.
